- Alleged Victim (AV) had a known skin condition and in March 2019, AV’s Primary Care Physician (PCP) referred AV to dermatology. AV was care planned to have an escort when outside of the facility. The facility and AV’s PCP office contacted AV’s family to provide an escort to the dermatologist but were unsuccessful. The facility complied with the PCP prescribed medications to cover and treat the affected areas but the medications were unsuccessful and from July 2019 through October 2019, AV’s condition worsened. On December 31, 2019, dermatology was recommended again for AV. On or about January 3, 2020, the facility’s upper management instructed the facility to provide AV a staff escort to the dermatologist as it was the facility’s responsibility to provide an escort when there was a lack of support. Through mid-February 2020, the facility continued to contact AV’s family for the dermatology escort. The facility had known of the dermatology referral for approximately eleven months and failed to provide an escort, which is a violation of resident rights, is considered neglect of care and constitutes abuse.
