Findings
The facility failed to provide and perform adequate screening and intervention when Alleged Victim (AV) had a change of condition. Based on interviews and facility documentation AV started complaining of hip pain on or about December 17, 2022. AV continued to complain of increasing hip pain daily and on or about December 20, 2022, management was notified AV was declining, not wanting to eat, having behaviors (hallucinations), and not wanting cares done. AVs PCP was notified on or about December 20,2022 and prescribed AV pain medication. AV was assessed by PCP nurse on or about December 21, 2022, at which time AV was sent to the Emergency room, diagnosed with a hip fracture and underwent surgery. The failure resulted in AV not receiving timely medical attention, and suffered prolonged unreasonable discomfort, which is a violation or resident rights, is considered neglect of care and constitutes abuse.
