- Facility failure to provide activities for residents4110540030 Staff 1 was interviewed on February 22, 2016 concerning a complaint about lack of structured activities for residents. Staff 1 indicated there are oneonone activities in the facility that should be noted because some residents prefer not to be in group activities; Staff 1 provided a short list of resident names who participate in this regard to Compliance Specialist (CS).Staff 1 also indicated there is low interest from most of the residents to participate in group activities. Staff 1 is aware of this because staff have been instructed to go door to door to gauge interest in structured group activity(s). Staff 1 indicated there is very little interest based on limited responses. On February 22, 2016, Staff 2 was also interviewed and asked about residents' interest level for group activities. Staff 2 indicated he/she has gone door to door for activity suggestions but the social dynamic amongst residents are such that you have different small groups that do not engage themselves in social activities with residents who are outside of their group. Staff 2 indicated his/her 38 day trial as Interim Activities Assistant concluded on February 25, 2016; Staff 2 is now the permanent Activities Assistant.Resident 1 was interviewed on February 22, 2016 and indicated most of the activities listed aren't provided. Examples include: Stress Color, Knit & Crochet, Exercise & Bus Trips. Resident 1 participates in the Resident Council with maybe four other residents, there is very low turnout and interest in residents becoming involved. Perhaps this is part of the problem Resident 1 asks?Resident 2 was interviewed on March 4, 2016 and indicated he/she has not felt inspired to give activity recommendations to anyone. Resident 2 does not believe Resident Council has followed through on anything. When asked, Resident 2 has not heard anything about group exercises or board game activities. Resident 2 has heard of watching movie activity and book club activity but has little interest in those two activities.Residents 35 were interviewed on March 4, 2016 and all indicated they like the facility & staff. However, there's almost no social activities put on by staff. Incidentally, none of these residents were aware of the facility's Resident Council nor do any of them participate in it.Resident 6 was interviewed on March 4, 2016 and indicated he/she used to participate in Resident Council and also has been a part of a small movement to promote change with the food at the facility. Resident 6 participates in oneonone activities with Staff 2 and enjoys that interaction. Resident 6 is not interested in doing social activities with other residents.Resident 7 was also interviewed on March 4, 2016 and indicated he/she also participates in oneonone social activities with Staff 2. Resident 7 indicated he/she enjoys oneonone social activities rather than in a group at the facility. Resident 7 has not been involved in Resident Council meetings in a couple of years because it is the same residents who come out for it.
