Findings: Alleged Victim (AV) is a resident fo the facility and relies on facility staff to meet his/her care needs. On the morning of January 7, 2020, AV reported to facility staff that he/she took a total of approximately 18 over the counter sleep aid supplements. AV took the sleep medications in attempt to sleep. AV stated that he/she would not go to the emergency department and facility staff did not call EMT's for an evaluation. The facility called poison control center who stated it was advisable that someone be evaluated by medical professionals, that the risk was low, and the facility should monitor AV's vitals and encourage fluid intake for the next 24 hours. AV was put on alert charting and his/her vitals was taken once per shift. AV was not recorded as having been put on alert charting in the progress notes until January 8, 2020. The facility failed to monitor according to AV's short term change of condition putting AV at risk for serious harm, which is a violation of resident rights, is neglect of care and constitutes abuse.
