- Findings
- On or about February 26, 2020, Alleged Victim (AV) moved into the facility. AV's care plan dated February 26, 2020, states the facility is responsible to administering AV's medications and AV's is at risk due to complication medication regimen. AV's physician approved AV to self-administer his/her metabolic disorder medication. On or about March 2, 2020, AV was found to have high metabolic markers due to not giving him/herself the metabolic disorder medication as ordered. AV stated he/she wanted the facility to take over the administration and the facility contacted AV's doctor to get orders for the facility to administer his/her medication. AV's physician wrote orders that staff are to administer AV's metabolic disorder medication on March 5, 2020. There is no documentation from March 2, 2020, when the facility learned AV was not self-administering his/her medication through March 5, 2020, when the facility assessed AV to delegate medication administration, mitigate AV at risk for serious harm due to not receiving his/her medication. The facility failed to provide a safe medication administration system, which is a violation of resident rights, is neglect of care and constitutes abuse.
