Findings: On July 10, 2020, the Alleged Victim (AV) noticed that he/she had money missing from his/her wallet and was missing some jewelry. AV had his/her items hidden in his/her room, as his/her lock box was not in working order. The facility is responsible for ensuring the safety of resident items by having a lockable storage space for residents. Based on a police report, it was not determined who was responsible for the theft of the items, therefore it was inconclusively determined the items may or may not have been taken by staff or some other unknown individual. The facility's failure to provide a secure storage space for AV resulted in a loss of over $15,000.00 in jewelry. The facility's failure is a violation of resident rights, is considered neglect of care and constitutes abuse.
Sanction: ALFCP21-01096 $1500.00 fine assessed
