Findings: Alleged Victim (AV) is care planned to be assisted with foot care. On or about April 13, 2021, Witness 1 (W1) visited AV and checked AV’s feet and observed AV’s feet were very swollen, AV’s toenails were overgrown and appeared damaged in areas. AV has severe neuropathy to both feet and is not able to report pain to feet. On or about May 6, 2021, W1 took AV to the podiatrist where AV’s toenails were clipped. AV was found to have a pinpoint scab/wound caused by swelling due to a medical condition to his/her toenail bed. AV’s toenails had not been clipped since the poor condition of AV’s feet were noted on April 13, 2021. The facility failed to follow AV’s care plan, which is a violation of resident rights, is neglect of care and constitutes abuse.
Sanction: ALFCP21-02948 $1000.00 fine assessed
