Findings: Alleged Victim (AV) relies on the facility to administer his/her medications. AV is prescribed PRN (as needed) dicyclomine/Bentyl for bowel issues and diphenhydramine/Benadryll for itching. On or about May 30th and 31st, 2021, AV was administered dicyclomine for itching instead of diphenhydramine. The med error cause AV to have uncontrollable bowel movements which cause AV discomfort/distress. The facility failed to provide a safe medication administration system for AV, which is a violation of resident rights, is neglect of care and constitutes abuse.
Sanction: ALFCP22-00701 $2500.00 fine assessed
