Findings: The facility failed to provide a safe environment. According to an investigation, the Alleged Victim (AV) utilized a hot water machine to make a beverage. When AV took a drink, AV burned the top and bottom of his/her lips. It was discovered that facility staff was aware that the hot water machine ran hot prior to the incident and no interventions were put into place to mitigate the risk of injury. This failure is a violation of resident rights, is considered neglect of care and constitutes abuse.
Sanction: ALFCP24-00161 $250.00 fine assessed
