- Findings
- According to the documentation, the facility failed to provide appropriate skin care for the Alleged Victim (AV) who had orders for wound care. on or about June 19, 2024, the AV was admitted to the facility with a history of cellulitis and other infections and had orders for wound care from home health. The facility staff did not contact the home health agency to set up routine wound care for the AV’s cellulitis. The AV’s legs continued to worsen and drainage from wounds started to appear. On or about June 30, 2024, a photo from a staff member was sent to another staff who instructed them to contact home health to set up wound care. On or about July 02, 2024, home health treated the AV’s wounds and noted to be worse when they moved into the facility. AV was placed on an antibiotic on or about July 03, 2024. The failure to provide appropriate skin care for the AV and failure to coordinate wound care with home health caused the infection to worsen, which is a violation of resident rights, is considered neglect of care and constitutes abuse.
