Findings: The facility failed to obtain a medical order to address Alleged Victim’s (AV) known recurrent medical issue. On or about March 15, 2022, facility staff took AV to a doctor appointment regarding behavioral changes where it was discussed with AV’s physician that an order for a urinalysis (UA) may be needed if there was no standing order already in place for AV. Upon return to the facility, staff did not follow up to see if there was a standing order and no further action was taken. No UA was obtained on AV. AV was admitted to the hospital on or about March 26, 2022, with among other issues, a urinary tract infection (UTI). The facility failed to obtain a medical order to diagnose AV’s recurrent UTIs, which caused AV unnecessary discomfort, is a violation of resident rights, is considered neglect of care and constitutes abuse.
